The Caithness Moxie Freedom Generating Station benefits from substantial locational and technological advantages over recently constructed plants in the region:
  • Direct access to firm gas supply from leading developers of Marcellus gas (Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation and South Jersey Resources Group, L.L.C.) at significant locational advantage to other downstream markets (i.e. Tetco-M3 and Transco Zone 6).
  • Direct Access to an existing 500 kV transmission line within Freedom’s boundaries with minimal upgrades required.
  • General Electric H-class gas turbine technology provides a 400-500 Btu/kWh heat rate advantage over competing F-class technology.
  • Located in the MAAC region of PJM and close to the northeast load centers.

The completed plant will provide its power to the “PJM market”. PJM Interconnection is a regional transmission organization (“RTO”) that coordinates the movement of wholesale electricity in all or parts of Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
